Eckerd Tritons college basketball season preview 2010-11

Eckerd

Men

Coach: Tom Ryan (272-141, 15th season)

Last season: 19-9 (11-5 Sunshine State Conference)

Notable: The Tritons turned things around last season, winning 13 of their final 16 games. That momentum could carry over to this season. Eckerd was picked to finish fourth in the Sunshine State Conference, and it is because of a trio of good returning players. Seniors Chris Gray, John Harper and Lance Kearse all got significant playing time last season. Wayne Sears also came off the bench last season and will be relied on this season. Depth will be the key again for the Tritons.

Women

Coach: Paul Honsinger (49-62, fifth season)

Last season: 10-15 (4-12 Sunshine State Conference)

Notable: Eckerd's top two scorers, Ashley Lutz (14.3 ppg) and Kati Rausberg (11.9), both return. In fact, four of five starters return for the Tritons. What could hinder Eckerd this year is a lack of depth. The Tritons were picked to finish eighth of nine schools in the Sunshine State Conference.
