Men's college basketball preview: Florida Gators at Georgia Bulldogs

Today's major state games

Florida at Georgia

When/where: 4; Stegeman Coliseum, Athens, Ga.

TV/radio: Ch. 38; 620-AM

Records: Florida 20-8, 9-4 SEC; Georgia 12-14, 4-9

Notable: Florida has won 12 of the past 13 meetings, but this is one of those classic, dangerous trap games. Despite its record, Georgia has shown signs of being able to compete with anybody in the league. Five of its nine league losses have come by four points or fewer. On Thursday, the Bulldogs nearly knocked off the SEC East's second-place team, Vanderbilt, before losing by one in overtime. … Sophomore F Trey Thompkins is second in the league in scoring (17.8), and Georgia leads the league in 3-point shooting and is outrebounding opponents by 4.2 percent.
