Men's college basketball preview: Florida Gators vs. Tennessee Volunteers

.Today

UF vs. Tennessee

When/where: 2; Stephen C. O'Connell Center, Gainesville

TV/radio: Ch. 10; 970-AM

Record: Tennessee 17-10, 8-5 SEC; UF 21-7, 8-5

Notable: The very definition of a big game for both teams: Heated rivals, national television and a must-win for both to try to bolster their NCAA Tournament resumes. … Florida is coming off another close-but-not-quite road loss at No. 18 LSU on Tuesday night. … Their record aside, when the Vols are clicking, they can be very hard to beat. Preseason All-SEC F Tyler Smith and 6-foot-9 C Wayne Chism have combined for between 36 and 38 points in each of the Vols' three SEC road wins. … In their Jan. 31 79-63 win over Florida, the Vols hit a season-high 12 3-pointers. … Here is where Florida's other big concern may lie: The Vols lead the league in offensive rebounds (14.1 per game) and are outrebounding opponents by 3.4 per game. … The Gators are 15-0 at home this season. The Vols, however, have won four straight and six of the past seven against the Gators.
