GAINESVILLE — Florida's Michael Frazier will forgo his senior season and enter the NBA draft, the shooting guard from Tampa confirmed Thursday.

Frazier had an injury-filled season that was marred by disappointment and the Gators' failure to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2008-09 season. He played in 26 games but missed seven after injuring his ankle Feb. 7. He returned for the final three games, including two in the SEC tournament, as Florida finished 16-17, its first losing season since 1997-98.

Frazier finished as the second-leading scorer this season (12.1), ending his UF career with 998 points.

Frazier, who played at Plant before transferring to Montverde Academy in Lake County for his senior year in high school, set the Florida record for 3-pointers made in a season (118) and in a game vs. South Carolina (11) — both in his sophomore season. Also that season, he was named to the All-SEC tournament team and the All-NCAA Tournament South Region team. Frazier declined an interview request Thursday via text message and did not respond when asked if he would keep open his option to return.
