South Florida Bulls vs. San Francisco Dons men's college basketball preview

USF vs. San Francisco

When/where: 5 p.m.; South Point Arena, Las Vegas

Radio: 1250-AM

Records: USF 8-2, San Francisco 3-7

Notable: It's USF vs. USF, as the teams meet in the first day of the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic. A win for the Bulls would match their total for all of last season — USF bounced back from a tough loss to Central Michigan on Sunday by beating Central Florida on Wednesday, led by junior G Dominique Jones' 27 points. Jones leads the Bulls with 18.2 points per game, and junior C Jarrid Famous had a double double Wednesday and is averaging 10.8 points and 7.2 rebounds. … The Bulls get back PG Justin Leemow, who missed Wednesday's game to attend to a family illness in New York. … San Francisco has dropped seven of eight, with the lone win against San Jose State. The Dons are led by 6-foot-7 F and former Texas Tech star Dior Lowhorn (19.3 ppg). The Bulls play San Diego on Sunday before returning home, then open Big East play Dec. 30 at Louisville.
