Notable: FAU is led by former St. John's coach Mike Jarvis. He went 6-26 last season, his first, but there are signs of progress. After going 0-18 on the road last season, the Owls won at American last week. … The top three scorers are young guards: freshman Raymond Taylor (18.3), sophomore Shavar Richardson (14) and freshman Greg Gantt (11 off the bench). … USF is off to its best start under Heath led by sophomore F Gus Gilchrist (19 points and 7.5 rebounds per game) and junior G Dominique Jones (17.8, 6.7). Junior F/C Jarrid Famous continues to emerge, averaging 11.7 points and seven rebounds.
