Women's college basketball preview: USF Bulls vs. Connecticut Huskies

WOMEN

USF at No. 1 Connecticut

When/where: 7; XL Center, Hartford, Conn.

TV/radio: BHSN; 1010-AM

Records: USF 9-4, UConn 12-0

Notable: A trip to Connecticut isn't a nice way to open Big East play: The Huskies beat the Bulls twice last season by a combined 83 points, and their average margin of victory this season is 42.6. … Led by All-Americans Maya Moore (19.2 ppg) and Tina Charles (17.3 ppg, 8.4 rpg), the Huskies are averaging 16 more rebounds and 14 more assists than their opponents while forcing 23 turnovers a game. That's not good for USF, which has more turnovers than its opponents. … Bulls C Jessica Lawson is averaging 14.9 points and 11 rebounds. If she gets in foul trouble, this could get lopsided quickly.

The Bucs' rise or fall is based on the play of quarterback Jameis Winston. His failure to take care of the football was arguably the biggest factor in their 34-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings Sunday.
