Women's college basketball preview: USF Bulls vs. Pittsburgh Panthers

tonight

USF women vs. Pittsburgh

When/where: 7; Sun Dome, Tampa

TV/radio: BHSN; 1010-AM

Records: USF 10-7, 1-3 Big East; Pittsburgh 11-6, 0-4 Big East

Notable: Pittsburgh has stumbled hard after a promising start, but the Panthers still have a 5-1 edge on USF in the all-time series, including a 32-point win last season. … Tonight is the kind of home game USF needs to win to stay in contention for a postseason berth. … Pittsburgh's top scorers are guards Jania Sims (13.8 ppg) and Taneisha Harrison (12.7), but watch out for 6-3 F Chelsea Cole, who is averaging 11.4 rebounds. She'll go up against USF senior Jessica Lawson, who has averaged 14.5 points and 10.5 rebounds. … The Bulls beat Syracuse on Saturday because of two things: offensive balance, with all five starters scoring at least nine; and outside shooting, hitting 10 3-pointers.
