2A-9 district basketball: Tampa Prep crushes Calvary Christian

class 2A, district 9

TP crushes Calvary

Tampa Prep reached a district final for the 16th time in 17 years by beating Calvary Christian 72-41 on Friday at Bishop McLaughlin.

The Terrapins (22-4) were led by senior guard Jake Haslam, who scored 16 points, including four 3-pointers.

"We played very good defense," said Tampa Prep coach Joe Fenlon, whose team was without two starters because of the flu. "There wasn't anything spectacular offensively except that our defense created a lot of offense for us."

Tampa Prep faces Indian Rocks Christian (16-9) at 7 tonight. They split the regular-season series.
