6A region basketball: Sarasota Riverview 63, Plant 60

SARASOTA — There were games this season when Riverview did not permit 40 points in a game. So when the Rams gave up 40 in the first half Thursday to Plant …

"It's heartbreaking," Riverview junior guard Eric Traver said.

Trailing by 17 in the third quarter, Traver connected on all eight of his free-throw attempts in the fourth, including four in the final 25 seconds, to cap a 63-60 victory in the 6A region quarterfinals.

The Rams knew they had to contain Michael Frazier. The 6-foot-4 junior guard blistered Riverview for 21 of Plant's 40 first-half points. When Riverview held Frazier scoreless and the Panthers to eight in the third quarter, it had a chance entering the final quarter.

Traver's 3 with 3:59 left gave the Rams a 53-51 lead. Andrew Murray hit a couple of big baskets, then Traver made all of his foul shots to cap the comeback. Frazier finished with 28 points.
