A-8 district basketball: Bradenton Christian 70, Seffner Christian 59

BRADENTON — Bradenton Christian will be advancing to the region tournament for the ninth time in 11 years under coach Dave Magley. But the trip will be more enjoyable because the Panthers are going as district champions.

Bradenton Christian (17-11) defeated Seffner Christian 70-59 Saturday night in the Class A, District 8 championship.

Senior Daniel Magley, hit some key buckets down the stretch and teamed with transfer Joey Carollo (21 points each) to set the tone. Seffner (12-13) stormed out of halftime with 11 unanswered points to cut its deficit to 44-42. But Magley and Carollo led the Panthers on an 11-1 run to push their lead to 55-43.

Magley led the Panthers with eight rebounds, including three in the final quarter when Seffner made its final charge and got within 63-55 with 2:22 left.
