A region basketball: Seffner Christian 49, Lakeland Victory Christian 37

LAKELAND — Seffner Christian struggled at the free-throw line during the first three quarters against Victory Christian on Thursday.

But the Crusaders made them when it mattered.

Seffner Christian (13-13) made 6-of-8 free throws in the final 2:06 and went on to defeat Victory Christian 49-37 in the Class A region quarterfinals.

Garrett Saunders came off the bench to score 10 points, eight in the third quarter for Seffner, which led by as many as 11 before Victory battled back.

The Storm went on a 6-1 run to cut the lead to 41-35 with 2:41 left. But the Crusaders outscored Victory (13-10) 8-2 down the stretch.

Connor Klover scored 13 points and Bradley Moore added 12 points for Seffner Christian.
