Class 2A region basketball: IRC can't get by Fort Meade

Class 2a IRC hangs around but stumbles vs. Fort Meade

FORT MEADE — Indian Rocks Christian kept things close but couldn't get past Fort Meade, falling 48-34 in the 2A region quarterfinals.

Fort Meade's biggest lead in the first half was five. The Miners (15-8) received a big boost as Bette Morris made a layup at the buzzer for a 23-20 halftime lead.

"We just had a bad mental attitude in the first half," Miners coach Archie Gale said. "The girls figured out at halftime they were not playing a bad team."

Courtney St. Louis led Indian Rocks (21-6) with nine points.
