Class 3A region basketball: Coley lifts St. Petersburg Catholic

Class 3A Coley sparks SPC

Early on, St. Petersburg Catholic was in a funk, missing shots and falling behind. Then Jerica Coley put on a show.

Her highlight reel consisted of hanging jumpers, impossible fadeaways and layups in traffic.

Coley, a junior, finished with 32 points to lift the Barons 60-49 over host Sarasota Cardinal Mooney.

After trailing 11-8 in the first quarter, the Barons seized control. A lot of that had to do with Coley, who also had 18 rebounds, eight steals and six assists.
