Coyotes forward Paul Bissonnette will appeal the 10-game automatic suspension he received from the league for leaving the bench for a fight in a preseason game against the Kings, his agent, Mark Guy, said Wednesday.
Under the collective bargaining agreement, the appeals process goes through commissioner Gary Bettman, then a neutral arbitrator.
Bissonnette came off the bench on an illegal line change in the first period Sunday to fight Kings center Jordan Nolan after Nolan hit Phoenix defenseman Rostislav Klesla. Klesla was taken off the ice on a stretcher and was released from a hospital after being diagnosed with a concussion.
The hit was legal, the league said, and Nolan was not disciplined.

Wild: British Columbia's Conservation Officer Service is investigating allegations that defenseman Clayton Stoner hunted a grizzly bear illegally in May. The Raincoast Conservation Foundation said that Stoner, a native of the province who was with the Wild last season, does not qualify as a British Columbia resident because it's unlikely he spent the required six months in the province before his hunt. Stoner previously said he applied for and received a grizzly bear hunting licence through a limited entry lottery last winter and shot the bear in May.
