CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Gerald Wallace had 20 points and 11 rebounds and the Bobcats routed the Lakers 109-89 on Monday night to extend one of the more bizarre one-sided matchups.
Gerald Henderson added 18 points for the Bobcats, who have won eight of the past 10 against the defending NBA champions.
The Lakers have a winning record against every team except the Celtics — and the Bobcats.
Kobe Bryant scored 20, missing 11 of his first 16 shots as he played with an illness that kept him from the shootaround.
Angry coach Phil Jackson used all but one full timeout before the fourth quarter in the Lakers' most lopsided loss of the season.
Los Angeles shot 44 percent from the field and missed 16 of 19 3-pointers. They forced only eight turnovers and were outrebounded by five.
After the Bobcats took a 78-60 lead on Wallace's 3-pointer to beat the third-quarter buzzer, things got ugly quickly for the Lakers in the fourth.
Bryant picked up two quick fouls, giving him five and helping the Bobcats reach the penalty with 10:51 left. Jackson kept his starters in the game until midway through the fourth, as Charlotte's lead ballooned with reserves Henderson and Nazr Mohammed (16 points) leading the charge.
The Bobcats completed an unusual eight-day stretch in which they also beat Eastern Conference heavyweights Boston and Atlanta and lost to unheralded Indiana and New Jersey.
Game highlights: Manu Ginobili scored 10 of his 22 in a game-breaking second-half run and the visiting Spurs (46-9) beat the Nets 102-85 to achieve the best 55-game mark since the Mavericks were 46-9 in 2006-07. New Jersey rookie Derrick Favors picked up four fouls in eight minutes in the first half. … The visiting Hawks held the Pistons to 28 percent shooting in the second half (28 points) to rally 94-79. … LaMarcus Aldridge played strong defense on Kevin Love and the visiting Trail Blazers beat the Timberwolves 95-81. Love took seven shots and had 12 points and 11 rebounds, just barely extending his double-double streak to 41 games.
Around the league: Rookie DeMarcus Cousins was fined by the Kings for an altercation with teammate Donte Greene and will rejoin the team after missing one game. Cousins was upset that Greene didn't pass to him for the final shot Saturday. … Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko (sprained right ankle) is out tonight at the Suns and doubtful for Wednesday against the Warriors.
