OKLAHOMA CITY — Matt Bonner took advantage of being left open from long distance to put together an impressive line of lucky sevens: seven 3-point shots, seven makes and seven straight Spurs wins.
The former Gator had 21 points and just missed matching the best 3-point shooting outing in Spurs history as San Antonio beat the Thunder 117-104 on Sunday night.
Bonner swished three 3's during a 21-8 run to open the fourth, and the NBA's best 3-point shooting team went 6-of-8 to pull away in the quarter.
"With each consecutive shot, the hoop is just getting bigger and bigger," said Bonner, who fell one shy of Steve Smith's club mark for 3-point accuracy. "It was just one of those nights where I was just feeling it."
GAME HIGHLIGHTS: Jason Richardson scored 34 and the Suns hit 22 3-pointers, second most in history, to hold off the host Lakers 121-116. The Magic made 23 3s against the Kings in January 2009. … Former Gator Al Horford had 28 points and 10 rebounds as the host Hawks beat the Timberwolves 111-105 to end a four-game skid. Minnesota's Kevin Love had 22 points and 17 rebounds in his first game since posting 31 and 31 Friday against the Knicks.
