Game show themes
These themes are probably going to make some of you have flashbacks to wasted mornings or afternoons spent sprawled in front of the TV.
"All of those things," his advisor, Jim Wilkes, said Saturday.
Whether that means Lacy is finished fighting remains to be seen. But the 31-year-old St. Petersburg super-middleweight is going to take a few days to sort things out and could be done with boxing.
"He's fed up. At the moment, he says he's retired," Wilkes said. "The incentives to stay in the game don't seem to be presenting themselves. But right now, there's just too many emotions to say anything definitive."
Lacy did not return phone calls or text messages for comment.
He is reportedly unhappy about a deal struck to pit him against Jermain Taylor, his 2000 Olympic teammate, without his final approval. Taylor's promoter, Lou DiBella, said the fight, scheduled for Nov. 15, was agreed to by him and Lacy's promoter, Golden Boy Promotions, on Wednesday before Lacy's victory over Epifanio Mendoza.
Wilkes, however, said the fight's price was never agreed on, just an approximation of what each fighter would make.
Wilkes declined to provide figures.
DiBella said Lacy's payday would be "better than most champions get."
"Jeff is a former Olympian, a world champion, who has lost one fight," Wilkes said. "But he has to take opponent's money against a guy who has lost his last two fights and hasn't looked good since before Bernard Hopkins? Jeff is going to take 48 hours and decide if this is what he wants to do anymore."
