Winky Wright will fight Michi Munoz in December

Winky Wright — remember him? — is scheduled to return to the ring Dec. 4 when he takes on Michi Munoz in Seattle. The fight will be televised live on Versus.

Wright (51-4-1, 25 KOs) of St. Petersburg hasn't fought since dropping a unanimous decision to Bernard Hopkins July 21 last year.

The former junior middleweight champion, who will be 37 when he steps into the ring again, had been trying to secure a fight with Kelly Pavlik before the WBC and WBO middleweight champ lost badly to Hopkins.

Wright also has been in negotiations with WBO welterweight champ Paul Williams and IBF middleweight titlist Arthur Abraham.

Wright's adviser, Jim Wilkes, said there have been issues with HBO in finding a suitable date and opponent.

Frustrated and unwilling to wait any longer, Wright took what should be a tuneup with the 27-year-old Munoz (21-2, 14 KOs). Wright hopes to come right back in a major fight on HBO in late February or early March.
