SAN FRANCISCO — Matt Cain became the first Giants pitcher to allow nine runs in an inning since 1902 when the Cardinals tagged him in the fourth. The last Giant to give up nine in an inning was John Cronin on Sept. 27, 1902, the Elias Sports Bureau said.
