ATLANTA — Matt Carpenter's two-run double in the fifth helped carry the Cardinals past the Braves, who lost their seventh in a row. Desperate for offense, Atlanta manager Fredi Gonzalez batted pitcher Aaron Harang eighth and second baseman Ramiro Pena ninth. Pena hit a seventh-inning homer that brought the Braves within a run.
