Celtics forward Paul Pierce, left, who had 17 points, drives past Thunder forward Kevin Durant during the second quarter.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Ray Allen had 19 points and Boston's bench helped prevent a big lead from slipping away in the fourth quarter as the Celtics opened a four-game road trip Sunday night with a 92-83 victory over the Thunder.

Glen Davis hit three jumpers from the free-throw line during a 15-6 Celtics push after their 22-point lead had been cut to 73-67 early in the fourth quarter. Allen's 3-pointer from the left wing restored the lead to 88-71 with 7:04 left.

Kevin Durant had 34 points and Russell Westbrook 16 points and 10 assists to lead Oklahoma City. Paul Pierce had 17 points and Rajon Rondo 10 points and 10 assists for Boston.

Durant was called for a rare technical with 1:05 left after a scuffle with Pierce under the basket, but replays showed that Pierce had a hold of Durant's arm when it started. After Pierce missed his free throw and Westbrook fouled Rondo on the ensuing inbounds pass, both headed to the bench.

Boston built a 58-37 halftime lead by shooting 56 percent and finishing on a 24-6 run. Nate Robinson hit a running 3-pointer just before the halftime buzzer to draw a fist pump from coach Doc Rivers, who had substituted him into the game with 2.3 seconds left in hopes of stealing a basket before intermission.

Durant and Westbrook led Oklahoma City's comeback by scoring all of the team's points during a third quarter when the Thunder outscored Boston 27-15.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS: Jason Richardson had 21 points and Steve Nash added 19 as the visiting Suns held off a second-half comeback to beat the Hawks 118-114. Atlanta lost for the first time after a 6-0 start. There were four ties in the fourth but the Hawks, who trailed by 18 in the third, never took the lead. Former Gator Al Horford had 30 points and 10 rebounds for Atlanta. … Elton Brand had 20 points, Lou Williams and Jrue Holiday had 19 each and the visiting 76ers beat the Knicks 106-96 to snap New York's two-game win streak. Evan Turner, the No. 2 overall pick and last season's college player of the year, added 14 points and 10 rebounds in his first NBA start.

AROUND THE LEAGUE: Forward Jeff Green was held out of the Thunder's lineup against the Celtics with a sprained left ankle.
