GAINESVILLE — With Saturday's 55-yard run in the first quarter of Florida's 62-3 win over Florida International, his 54th career touchdown, Florida QB Tim Tebow broke a tie with LSU star Kevin Faulk (1995-98) for first in SEC history.

With his two touchdown passes, Nos. 80 and 81, Tebow tied Mississippi's Eli Manning (2000-03) for fourth in SEC history. (Florida's Danny Wuerffel is first with 114 from 1993-96.)

And with 317 offensive yards, for a total of 11,078, Tebow moved from fifth to third in SEC history. (Florida's Chris Leak is first with 11,380 from 2003-06.)

"It was a good day," Tebow said. "We wanted to come out and execute. I put the ball in the end zone, and I think we looked good as an offense."

INJURY UPDATE: Florida LB A.J. Jones most likely will miss Saturday's game against Florida State after suffering a possible MCL injury in his right knee against FIU.

"He's doubtful," coach Urban Meyer said. "(If it's an) MCL, it's is nonsurgical, so that's the good thing."

Jones has started all 11 games and is fifth on the team with 37 tackles and three sacks.

OL Carl Johnson is questionable with a sprained right ankle suffered with 3:32 remaining in the first half. And OL Maurkice Pouncey suffered a lower-leg bone bruise but is expected to play.

Special teams player Mike Gillislee's previously injured hamstring tightened up after the third kickoff. He did not return but also is expected to play.

BIG SPARK: Florida senior LB Brandon Spikes' interception return for a touchdown 1:50 into the game was the fourth of his career. The 41-yarder made him the only player in the nation with four over the past two seasons.

"It was easy," Spikes said. "I read play-action … so I got a good view of the quarterback's vision. I just stepped in front of (the receiver) and made a play on the ball.

"Sometimes, I laugh about it because up until LSU of last year, I had never touched the end zone myself. Once I got one, I guess they keep coming."

Meyer said the touchdown set the tone for the game.

"We started getting up on them a little bit," he said. "Sometimes (momentum swings) happen."

HERNANDEZ ON THE OUTS: Junior TE Aaron Hernandez did not play in the first quarter, but Meyer was vague on why.

"I don't want to say he's in the doghouse a little bit," Meyer said. "But we've got to have a little better week out of him this week."
