ORLANDO — Michael Greco came off the bench to throw two touchdowns and Ronnie Weaver rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown as Central Florida (2-3, 1-1 Conference USA) ended a three-game skid by beating SMU 31-17 on Saturday.

Greco took over for Rob Calabrese at the start of the second half and engineered three scoring drives to break a 10-10 tie. He hit Brian Watters with a 56-yard pass in the third then sealed the game with a 15-yarder to Khymest Williams with 1:34 left in the fourth.

"It was divine intervention," Knights coach George O'Leary said about changing quarterbacks. "I went into the locker room at halftime and sat at my desk. And I kept looking up, and it just hit me in the head: put Greco in."

SMU has lost four in a row.

FIU has rare win streak

DENTON, Texas — Paul McCall threw for 234 yards and four touchdowns as Florida International beat North Texas 42-10. The Golden Panthers, who beat Toledo 35-16 last week, have their first win streak since ending the 2005 season with three wins. Since then, they are 3-26.

FIU entered last in the nation in total offense. But facing a defense that entered fourth worst in the nation, McCall went 11-of-19 to set career highs in yards and touchdowns. In his first four games this season, McCall had a combined one touchdown and 272 yards.

Bethune-Cookman 31, Morgan St. 27: Maurice Francois' 82-yard touchdown pass to Phillip Kirkland helped seal the win for the visiting Wildcats. The score came with 5:55 left in the third and put Bethune-Cookman up 31-21.

S.C. State 28, FAMU 21: William Ford ran for 149 yards, including 44 for the go-ahead touchdown with 2:14 left in the third, for the visiting Bulldogs. LeRoy Vann had put the Rattlers ahead 21-20 a few minutes earlier on a 92-yard punt return.
