Florida offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Steve Addazio has been hospitalized with a knee infection. Addazio, 49, had knee replacement surgery last year but recently contracted an infection, coach Urban Meyer said.

Addazio, promoted to offensive coordinator three weeks ago after Dan Mullen took the job as coach at Mississippi State, might also be a candidate for the head-coaching job at Boston College. Meyer said Sunday that it's a strong possibility BC will seek permission to speak with Addazio.

Tight ends/assistant offensive line coach John Hevesy has decided to join Mullen at MSU, where he will be the offensive line coach.

USF: South Broward guard Steven Jacques and Fort Pierce Westwood quarterback Isaac Virgin have orally committed. Jacques, a 6-4, 290-pound lineman who previously committed to Auburn, is rated a three-star recruit by both major recruiting sites. Virgin, 6-4, 230, is rated a two-star prospect.

Times staff writer Greg Auman contributed to this report.
