College football preview: No. 2 FSU vs. Syracuse, 3:30 Saturday, Ch. 28, 820-AM

No. 2 FSU vs. Syracuse, 3:30, Ch. 28, 820-AM

Florida State (9-0, 7-0 ACC) is ranked No. 2 in the BCS standings but is dealing with the fallout of a sexual assault investigation involving QB Jameis Winston (right). The Seminoles should be heavy favorites in their remaining regular-season games and already have clinched a spot in the ACC title game. Syracuse (5-4, 3-2) still has the opportunity for a winning season in its first year under coach Scott Shafer. The Orange have a chance for its first back-to-back winning seasons since 2000-01.

Watch out for … LB Telvin Smith leads the 'Noles with 56 tackles, including 6½ for loss. The FSU defense is set up for the linemen to take on blocks and allow linebackers to run free to the ball. Smith has the speed to chase ballcarriers sideline to sideline and the strength to shake linemen. He will have a chance to put up big numbers against the Orange.
