Running back C.J. Spiller and receiver Jacoby Ford, elite sprinters on the track, need 293 all-purpose yards to become the top all-purpose tandem in NCAA history. Spiller and Ford have 9,961 yards and are chasing San Diego State's Marshall Faulk and Darnay Scott, who combined for 10,253.

The Seminoles (4-4, 2-3 ACC) have won consecutive games largely because of quarterback Christian Ponder, left, and the offense. Ponder, a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award (for the nation's top player) and who bruised his ribs last week, is the ACC's passing leader, averaging 306.6 yards per game. FSU is averaging 31.8 points. But the Tigers, winners of three straight and in control of their destiny in the ACC's Atlantic Division, are ninth nationally in pass defense. Safety DeAndre McDaniel, a former Tallahassee Godby star, is tied for the national lead with seven interceptions. Clemson has 22 sacks (tied for first in the ACC) and in five home games has allowed an average of 8.2 points.
