FSU-Miami kickoff remains at 3:30 despite Nate threat

Saturday's Florida State-Miami game will kick off as scheduled, despite the threat of Tropical Storm Nate.

The rivalry game is scheduled to start at 3:30 in Tallahassee after updated projections pushed the storm's expected landfall west.

FSU was originally scheduled to host the No. 13 Hurricanes on Sept. 16, but the game was pushed back to their mutual bye week because of Hurricane Irma.

Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher has never lost to Miami, and FSU has won seven in a row in the series.

UAB: The team will wear jerseys with the name of a child who has been served by the nearby Children's Harbor, which works with seriously ill children and their families for no cost.

USC: Starting right guard Viane Talamaivao has a torn pectoral muscle, ending the senior's career. True freshman Andrew Vorhees becomes the starter.

USF BASKETBALL: Redshirt junior guard Troy Holton remains out indefinitely after having surgery last month on his left knee. The former Wharton High and Oldsmar Christian standout suffered a torn left ACL in the summer of 2015 and missed the 2015-16 season. He led the team in 3-pointers (54) last season and averaged a career-best 9.7 points. USF didn't clarify if the latest injury was another tear.

Quotable

"We felt a responsibility to keep it going for the guys before us, and then to watch it all come to an end because of decisions made by people who didn't know what they were doing — selfish decisions — still (upsets) me today."

Matt Davison, whose "Miracle at Missouri" catch helped keep Nebraska unbeaten during its last national title run, in 1997; members of that team will have a reunion in Lincoln this weekend
