College football preview: No. 10 Florida State Seminoles vs. Nevada, 3:30 p.m. Saturday, ESPN, 820-AM

No. 10 FSU vs. Nevada, 3:30, ESPN, 820-AM

Florida State (1-0) is a heavy favorite after QB Jameis Winston and the Seminoles trounced Pitt 41-13 in the opener. Winston completed 25 of 27 passes for 356 yards and four touchdowns on the road — the most productive start by a freshman QB in school history. Winston set a school record by completing 92.6 percent of his passes, topping Danny Kanell's mark set in 1995. Winston was chosen the ACC rookie of the week, the Davey O'Brien QB of the week and the Manning Award star of the week. The Seminoles are 33-2 in their past 35 home openers.

Watch out for …: Nevada TE Brandon Wimberley has caught a pass in 42 consecutive games, the longest streak in the nation. It started Sept. 5, 2009, with a 19-yarder from Colin Kaepernick. Wimberley led the Wolf Pack (1-1) with 70 catches and 845 yards last season.

There will come a day when Cameron Myers is stopped, when opposing defenders gang up to prevent him from breaking off big gains.

Durant senior Cameron Myers recently set a career high in rushing yards — tallying a whopping 393 last week vs. Plant City.
  3. Check out what this former Buc has cooking in Buffalo

Leonard Johnson is thrilled to extend his NFL career in Buffalo this season, but whenever his playing days are over, the former Bucs cornerback is ready for life after football.

    He's actually pretty excited.

  4. Koetter: Jameis Winston will test shoulder in practice Friday

Will he? Won't he? It appears the Bucs' uncertainty over whether quarterback Jameis Winston can play through a shoulder injury Sunday at Buffalo will carry up until the final hours before kickoff.

Jameis Winston didn't throw at practice Wednesday.
  5. Fennelly: Even frustrated Bucs fans hold out hope

Many fans wrote back when I threw out an all-points the other day, asking if Bucs fans are perpetually in a state of expecting the worst.
