Streaking

How Florida's win streak over Kentucky ranks all time among annual series:

Notre Dame over Navy: 43 (1964-2006)

Nebraska over Kansas: 36 (1969-2004)

Oklahoma over Kansas State: 32 (1937-68)

Florida over Kentucky: 30 (1987-present)

FSU debuts

With FSU true freshman QB James Blackman set to make his first career start Saturday at noon against a loaded Wolfpack front seven, here's how other recent 'Noles fared in their first starts:

Deondre Francois (2016): 33-52, 419 yards and two touchdowns; 59 rushing yards in 45-34 win over Ole Miss

Jameis Winston (2013): 25-27, 356 yards and four touchdowns; one rushing touchdown in 41-13 win at Pitt

It's early, but UCF and Maryland are the nation's top two scoring offenses (a combined 118 points per game). Both teams could take a step back this week against reasonable competition — especially the Knights. They'll go 22 days between games thanks to a Thursday night opener and Hurricane Irma. What will the time off do to the timing of QB McKenzie Milton and his receivers?

Stat of the week

UF is 14-0 under coach Jim McElwain when it outrushes its opponent and 6-8 when it doesn't. That doesn't bode well for a struggling run offense against the SEC's top rushing defense. It doesn't help UF that Kentucky QB Stephen Johnson is mobile, too, with 122 rushing yards over his past two games.

Eye on the NFL draft

N.C. State DE Bradley Chubb is a first-round talent with 5 ½ tackles for loss. He could be in for a big day against an FSU offensive line that's supposed to be better than last year. Don't be surprised if he hounds QB James Blackman all day — and boosts his draft stock in the process.
