Much of the talk has been about Bulls QB B.J. Daniels, making his first career start, and Seminoles QB Christian Ponder, coming off a strong game at then-No. 7 BYU. But as important are the pass defenses they'll go up against. USF (3-0) hasn't faced a strong passing team (two of its three games have been against I-AA teams), so the Bulls look good as the nation's No. 3 pass defense. But they have a nickel defense with three first-year starters. FSU (2-1) is 117th (out of 120 schools) in pass defense, having allowed Miami's Jacory Harris to throw for 386 yards and BYU's Max Hall 306. The Seminoles have given up plenty of big plays; six Hurricanes had catches of at least 20 yards in Miami's win. And with Doak Campbell Stadium sold out, how will young USF handle one of the three largest crowds ever to see the Bulls play?
What to watch for …
If the Bulls have an advantage, it's that they haven't had to show much of anything in their first three games against lightweight opponents. What new wrinkles have new coordinators Mike Canales (offense) and Joe Tresey (defense) been saving for today? FSU has much more experience against top-level competition this season.
