USF Bulls' B.J. Daniels, Mark Joyce earn Big East weekly honors

Two weeks into football season and the USF Bulls have already won all three of the Big East's weekly honors, with quarterback B.J. Daniels earning the offensive nod after his 359-yard passing game against Ball State, and safety Mark Joyce getting the special-teams honor for the week after returning a fumbled kickoff return for a touchdown just eight seconds into the game.

Those two honors follow last week, when Bulls safety Jerrell Young was the league's defensive player of the week and kicker Maikon Bonani earned a spot on the conference's weekly honor roll. Daniels set career highs with 28 completions on 39 attempts, and his 359 passing yards were not only a career high but the fourth-highest total in school history.

  4. Rays Tales: Who's the team MVP? It's a vexing proposition

    The Heater

Given that the Rays' season is — barring a much bigger story — going to end next Sunday, this is the time to reflect on what they did over the past six months — honor the good, acknowledge the bad and note some of the more interesting.

Typically, that starts with the MVP.

Corey Dickerson, left, and Steven Souza Jr. typify the conundrum: some good, some not so good.
  5. Lightning journal: Ryan Callahan feels good after first game action since January

    Lightning Strikes

TAMPA — As veteran RW Ryan Callahan was riding a stationary bike before Friday's exhibition game, he felt nervous. There was anxiety.
