Senior sprinter Walter Dix didn't disappoint Saturday in his final race for Florida State.
Dix, who eschewed lucrative pro offers last year to return to school to graduate and make a historic run, won the 200 meters for a third straight year and led the Seminoles to their third consecutive men's title at the NCAA outdoor track and field championships in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Seminoles had 52 points, eight ahead of LSU and Auburn. Florida was 15th (20 points).
"It was definitely worth it," Dix told CBS of returning for his senior year. "I'm happy to be here and happy to celebrate with my teammates."
Dix, who came back after injuring his left hamstring five weeks ago, surged by 100-meter champ Richard Thompson of LSU to win in 20.40 seconds.
LSU won the women's title, nipping defending champ Arizona State, 67-63. Florida was ninth (26), FSU 12th (16) and Miami 20th (12).
FSU's Hannah England won the 1,500 meters in 4 minutes, 6.19 seconds, a personal best.
"Unbelievable," Seminoles coach Bob Braman said of England. "She was undefeated the whole outdoor season, which is just amazing."
UF's best finish was third, by Mariam Kevkhisvili in the shot put.
MEN'S BASKETBALL: A panel began a hearing in Seattle to determine whether Indiana violated recruiting rules under former coach Kelvin Sampson. The NCAA has accused Sampson of lying to investigators about more than 100 impermissible calls.
