Florida State Seminoles drop Game 1 of NCAA baseball Super Regional to Arkansas Razorbacks, 7-2

TALLAHASSEE — Mike Bolsinger threw five scoreless innings and Arkansas scored four of its runs without a hit to defeat Florida State 7-2 in a Super Region game that took more than nine hours to complete Friday because of rain delays.

Florida State (45-17) must win two straight in the best-of-three series to make the College World Series for a second straight year.

Bolsinger (6-4) fanned six and scattered four hits after replacing starter Dallas Keuchel. FSU starter Sean Gilmartin, who threw 70 pitches, did not return after the third and longest delay of 4 hours, 22 minutes.

The Razorbacks (38-22) took a 5-2 lead in the seventh, scoring three without a hit.

Basketball: Memphis SAT probe grows

ATLANTA — Robert Dozier is the second men's player on the 2008 Memphis national finalist team to have questions arise about his entrance exams.

University officials already were preparing for an NCAA hearing today to answer charges that a player, believed to be Derrick Rose, cheated on his SAT exam.

Dozier's inconsistent SAT scores prevented him from being admitted to Georgia. His initial score was invalidated by the company that scores the exam, and his followup score was dramatically lower, 540 points, according to Georgia records.

MORE BASKETBALL: Miami's Dwayne Collins withdrew from the upcoming draft and will return for his senior season. … Fairleigh Dickinson fired coach Tom Green after 26 seasons. … Tennessee-Martin said coach Bret Campbell resigned after an audit found he violated school policies by cashing checks for summer basketball camps.

FOOTBALL: Defensive tackle John Brown, a former five-star recruit out of Lakeland plagued by eligibility problems and injuries at Florida, is planning to play for Tennessee in 2010. He left UF at the end of the season. … Former Arkansas defensive tackle Keith Jackson Jr., 24, was arrested on suspicion of felony drug charges in Little Rock, Ark., after being found in an apartment with marijuana, cocaine and Ecstasy. He is the son of Keith Jackson, who played tight end at Oklahoma before playing with the Eagles, Dolphins and Packers in the NFL.

  1. The legacy of Tim Tebow's baseball summer

CLEARWATER — It was about three weeks ago. A Saturday night. I sat behind home plate at a Charlotte Stone Crabs game at Charlotte Sports Park. There was a professional baseball scout sitting just behind me with a speed gun in his hand. He had seen the whole thing.

Seth Bosch, left, of Punta Gorda, Fla., met Tim Tebow in Port Charlotte, Fla., in late July when Tebow, while in the on-deck circle during a game, shook hands with Seth through the backstop screen. The moment was captured on video by Seth's mother, as was the home run Tebow promptly hit in his ensuing at bat. Seth, who has high-functioning autism and other health issues, celebrated wildly and the video went viral. PHOTO PROVIDED
