Florida State women's soccer team routs South Alabama to open NCAA Tournament

TALLAHASSEE — Florida State, one of four No. 1 region seeds, opened in the women's soccer NCAA Tournament with a 5-0 victory over South Alabama on Friday night.

Five players scored for the Seminoles (19-1-1), who held a 23-2 advantage in shots over the Jaguars (19-3-1).

Florida State posted its 14th shutout of the season as Cassie Miller had to make only one save.

Leading scorer Dagny Brynjarsdottir had her 15th goal of the season to open the scoring. Megan Campbell and Emma Koivisto had three assists each for FSU, which hosts the winner of today's Boston University-Northeastern match on Nov. 21.

Division II: The Saint Leo women (13-5) defeated North Alabama 1-0 in Miami Shores to advance to Sunday's second-round NCAA Tournament match against Barry.
