USF beats Temple 1-0 in AAC men's soccer quarterfinal

PHILADELPHIA — Stiven Salinas scored his third goal in four games to lead USF to a 1-0 win over Temple in the American Athletic Conference quarterfinals Saturday.

In the 45th minute, Salinas took a long pass from Edwin Moalosi and put it past sliding goalkeeper Dan Scheck.

Brentton Muhammad had his third straight shutout for fifth-seeded USF (7-3-8, 2-2-4). The fourth-seeded Owls (10-4-4, 3-1-4) had no shots on goal in the second half.

The Bulls face either No. 1 seed Louisville or No. 8 seed Rutgers in the AAC semifinals on Friday in Frisco, Texas.

WOMEN: Florida faces Texas A&M in the SEC final at 2 p.m. today in Orange Beach, Ala. Florida State faces Virginia Tech in the ACC final at 4 p.m. today in Cary, N.C. Both matches will air live on ESPNU.
