Adult softball teams forming in Pasco, Brooksville

The Pasco Parks and Recreation Department will host adult softball leagues at the Land O'Lakes Community Center.

A men's league will play Tuesdays and Wednesdays, a women's league will play Thursdays and a coed league will play Mondays. The cost is $400 per team, which includes two preseason games, a 10-week season and a single-elimination tournament.

MORE SOFTBALL: The Brooksville Recreation Department is hosting an NSA Adult Slow-Pitch Softball League with men's and coed teams for players 18 and up. The men's teams play Monday evenings and the coed teams play Thursday evenings starting Sept. 14.

Games will be played at the Jerome Brown Community Center and cost is $30 per player or $170 per team. There is a mandatory coach meeting at 6 p.m. Sept. 3.

GO-CARTS: Dirt Devils Speedway in Land O'Lakes is hosting Race No. 13 on Saturday for beginners to adult racers. Located on State Road 52, Dirt Devils has races for various ages and admission is $10. Racing starts at 5 p.m.

HIKING: Gulfside Regional Hospice will host the Third Annual Hike for Hospice 5K at 9 a.m. Nov. 8 at the Wesley Chapel District Park at 7727 Boyette Road.

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneer Mike Alstott will be on hand to start the event. Proceeds benefit Gulfside Regional Hospice. The cost is $25 for adults and kids 10 and under can participate for free. Hikers will receive a T-shirt and snacks.

POKER: The Alzheimer's Family Organization will host its Texas hold'em competition at 6 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Aripeka Elks Lodge No. 2520, 9135 Denton Ave., Hudson.

Tickets are $30 or two for $50. The overall winner takes home bragging rights for Pasco County, because no monetary prize can be given.

BELLY DANCING: Land O'Lakes Recreation Complex is hosting belly dancing classes for females 16 and older from noon to 1 p.m. Saturdays. The cost is $6. Classes offer a fun way to use dance movements to improve cardiovascular levels and muscle tone.

ZUMBA: The Land O'Lakes Recreation Complex has a Zumba fitness class for ages 13 and older from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesdays. The class, which moves to a Latin beat, costs $6.

SHUFFLEBOARD: The Betmar Shuffleboard Club in Zephyrhills will host the World Singles International Shuffleboard Association Tournament from Oct. 14 to 18 at the Betmar shuffleboard courts.

The field will include 72 of the top tournament players from the United States, Canada, Germany, Japan, Australia, Portugal, Norway, Brazil and England. Spectators can attend at no cost.
