SAFETY HARBOR — Coming into its 9-10 District 12 softball semifinal against Countryside, Oldsmar had outscored opponents 25-2 in two games, winning both in mercy rule-shortened four-inning games.

Countryside, therefore, can take some solace in lasting a full six innings Thursday.

Oldsmar, however, again proved too tough, dispatching Countryside 12-4 to advance to Monday's district final against West Pasco.

Oldsmar starting pitcher Maddie Bertisch kept the Countryside batters off balance all night. She struck out 10 and surrendered just two hits in a complete-game victory.

Aliyah Andrews had four hits for Oldsmar. Madison Flick had two RBIs, Carly Liptak was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI and Bertisch went 3-for-4 with two RBIs.

For Countryside, Katie Ernst singled in the first inning and scored for a 1-0 lead. In the second, Emma Walford walked and made it home. Ernst singled home a run to pull Countryside to within a run at 4-3 before Oldsmar scored four times in the bottom half of the inning to pull away.

West Pasco 13, Tarpon Springs/Palm Harbor 10: Seven runs in the fourth inning propelled West Pasco to victory in District 12 9-10 softball's second semifinal.

West Pasco catcher Ashley Panariello threw out three would-be base-stealers and went 3-for-4 with a double and two singles. Teammate Madisyn Palmer was 2-for-2 with an inside-the-park home run.

Allysa Lyons was credited with the win. She started for West Pasco and threw five innings. Bailey Ledford recorded the final two outs to get the save.

11-12 softball

Safety Harbor 21, Largo/Dunedin/Palm Harbor 2: Safety Harbor advanced to the 11-12 softball final with a mercy rule-shortened victory.

Samantha Sharpe threw a one-hitter and hit a home run to lead Safety Harbor, and Tori Crumbley went 3-for-4.

Stephanie Freeman made an outstanding defensive play in centerfield, running down a ball over her head and making the catch with the bases loaded for the final out.

Safety Harbor will play West Pasco in Monday's final.

11-12 baseball

Largo 7, Palm Harbor 2: Largo finished 3-0 in pool play with a five-run victory over Palm Harbor.

Andy Weiss was the catalyst offensively for Largo after hitting a two-run home run.

Andrew Murphy pitched a complete game and struck out nine Palm Harbor batters. Derek Gibree had a single, a double and two RBIs and Michael Adams had a double and an RBI for Largo.

Largo next plays in the major quarterfinals Monday against Dunedin.
