SEMINOLE — The Dunedin 13-14 junior baseball squad knew it was in for a long day with back-to-back games scheduled for the opening round of the sectional tournament.

With temperatures bordering on unbearable, Dunedin's day became even more trying after battling back from a 6-0 hole to Palma Ceia in its first game only to lose 7-6 in eight innings.

Playing 30 minutes after its heartbreaking loss, though, Dunedin confounded Seminole to win 14-0 in five innings.

"That first game was tough," Dunedin manager Matt Morrow said. "But to come back and play the way we can play in the second game was nice."

Seminole (0-2) had no answer for Dunedin starter Will Honeycutt, who went the full five innings and surrendered only two hits to keep Seminole off the board.

Offensively, Ben Emery's RBI double in the first inning got Dunedin (1-1) started. Kellen Brown doubled in two runs in a five-run second inning and hit another double in the third to plate one more run.

DUNNELLON 7, SEMINOLE 5: Seminole and Dunnellon were tied at four midway through the sixth inning before Dunnellon put the game away with three runs in the bottom half of the inning.

PALMA CEIA 16, DUNNELLON 14: Palma Ceia (2-0) wrapped up the junior baseball sectional title with a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Dunnellon (1-1).

10-11 baseball

WEST PASCO 13, SEMINOLE 10: West Pasco overcame an early 5-2 deficit by scoring eight runs in the fourth inning to down Seminole (1-1).

Harry Keslar went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Blaize Grabowski was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Tyler Hawks went 2-for-3 with three RBIs for West Pasco (2-0).

Joe Vaccarino hit a two-out, two-strike single in the sixth that scored two runs and gave West Pasco a 13-9 cushion.

With Tampa Bay's victory over West Hernando later, West Pasco wraps up the sectional title and advances to the state tourney.

TAMPA BAY 13, WEST HERNANDO 3: Patrick Kiszla hit a three-run, first-inning home run to ignite Tampa Bay's offense in a mercy rule-shortened victory (five innings) over West Hernando (0-2). Josh Russo smacked a three-run home run in the second for Tampa Bay (1-1).

11-12 baseball

EAST LAKE 11, SEMINOLE 1: Three home runs powered East Lake past Seminole (1-1). David Paul knocked the first pitch of the game out of the park for East Lake (1-1). Tyler Neuhaus and Joe Pigozzo also hit home runs for East Lake.

CITRUS PARK 13, HUDSON 3: Citrus Park sent 13 batters to the plate in a nine-run first inning to cruise past Hudson (0-2) in a mercy-rule shortened victory (four innings). Wyatt Reed and Brett Wilkosz each hit home runs for Citrus Park (2-0).
