Land O'Lakes Little League registration under way

Land O'Lakes Little League baseball and softball have opened registration. The league is open to players ages 4 through 16 as of April 30, 2009, and begins in January and ends in May. You can register online. The fee is $215; deadline is Dec. 2. The Web site to register is www.landolakeslittleleague.org.

BASKETBALL: The New Port Richey Elks Lodge No. 2284 will host the Elks National Free Throw "Hoop Shoot" contest Dec. 6 at the Holiday Recreation Complex, 2830 Gulf Trace Blvd.

Registration will begin at 11 a.m. with the "Hoop Shoot" at 11:30 a.m. The contest is for boys and girls ages 8-13. A birth certificate must be presented at registration with the child's age group being determined by their age as of April 1, 2009. For more information and instructions, contact J. GOLF/TENNIS: Quail Ridge Country Club is having golf and tennis youth holiday camps from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 22-24 and 29-31. The classes run Monday through Wednesday and are $65 per class or $110 for both. The tennis offers guided training and fun games while golf offers a competitive environment and the use of the facilities. Both classes also will teach tennis and golf specific workouts in the fitness studio. Tennis for Tots classes for ages 4-6 will be 4-5 p.m and cost $25. MORE TENNIS: Private tennis lessons for kids and adults ages 7 and up are available at the Land O'Lakes Recreation Complex, 3032 Collier Parkway. The lessons are taught by certified tennis instructor Dean Colosimo and accommodate all skill levels. The cost is $20 per half hour and $40 per hour. Lessons are by appointment only. VOLLEYBALL: The Holiday Recreation Complex is starting a youth volleyball league for boys and girls ages 10-15. The cost is $25 per player, proof of age is required and space is limited. Deadline to register is Jan. 14. For more info, call (727) 942-7439 or (727) 934-4198.

FLOOR HOCKEY: Pasco County Parks and Recreation Department is hosting an open floor-hockey night from 7-9 p.m. Thursdays at Veterans Memorial Park, 14333 Hicks Road in Hudson.

Play is free of charge and the games are for ages 16 and up. The hockey games will be similar to street hockey. For more information, call (727) 861-3033.

DANCING: The Land O'Lakes Recreation Complex holds Zumba dance classes for ages 13 and older from 7-8 p.m Wednesdays. Classes are $6 per person and are taught by certified Zumba instructor Helen Gonzalez. For more information, call (813) 929-1220 or (813) 838-4624.

GYMNASTICS: The Land O'Lakes Recreation Complex hosts gymnastics classes between 5:45 and 8 p.m. Tuesdays. The classes are broken down by age group and are available for kids ages 3-12.
