Turkey Trot runners pick up pace

CLEARWATER — Nearly 2,500 people turned out Thanksgiving morning for a Turkey Trot that produced some exceptionally fast times.

Scott Mackley, a 22-year-old from Lakeland, was the first person across the finish line in a time of 31:37. Local favorite, Christa Benton of St. Petersburg, was the fastest woman. The 24-year-old ran a 36:27.
