EAST BAY FISHING REPORT

Raining redfish. The rain that we had at the beginning of the week should continue to help keep the water temperature down. I believe this has really helped our redfish bite this year. The redfish bite this year is the best it has been in a long time. They have been schooled up since early August. Look for a grassy/sand flat holding a lot of bait. The incoming tide has produced the most fish. These fish are seeing some pressure so make sure you are prepared to wait them out. They will eventually start eating.

Bait. The bait of choice has been sporadic. One day they are eating cut greenbacks or pinfish on the bottom, and the next day they want a live greenback floating under a cork. When you set up on the flat put a couple of different options out until you figure out what they want.

Snook. Snook are everywhere but they are focusing in on the glass minnows. Some are being caught while fishing for redfish. It is hard for a big snook to pass up an easy meal, like cut bait.

Under the bridge. The bridges are holding some nice snapper and pompano. The snapper are eating small greenbacks fishing on the bottom. Pompano are being caught working a goofy jig around the pilings. Don't be surprised if you hook into a black drum while jigging. Fishing the top or bottom of any tide is best.
