It's time for Mitchell High boys golf team tryouts

Tryouts for the Mitchell High School boys golf team will begin next week at Crescent Oaks Country Club. There will be a meeting Monday in Room 810 at 3 p.m. when all completed paperwork is due. Tryouts begin Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the golf course. For more information, contact coach Rick Hyatt at [email protected] or at (727) 774-9200.

VOLLEYBALL: River Ridge High School volleyball tryouts will begin at 7 a.m. Monday in the River Ridge Gymnasium. Bring a completed physical form and medical release form. Forms can be obtained on the River Ridge Web site (rrmhs.pasco.k12.fl.us/hs) under "athletics." For additional information, call Heidi Castelamare at (727) 809-1710.

FOOTBALL: The NFL Punt, Pass and Kick Competition will be held at the Holiday Recreation Complex, 2830 Gulf Trace Blvd., on Aug. 16 beginning at 9 a.m. Participants need to register by Aug. 15, and a birth certificate is needed. The event is free for boys and girls ages 8-15. No cleats are permitted during the competition. For more information, call (727) 934-4198.

FLAG FOOTBALL: R.O.C.K. Sports, a Christ-centered sports ministry for boys and girls, is accepting registrations for its Upward flag football and cheerleading leagues. The eight-game season starts Oct. 25 and runs through Dec. 13. All games and practices will be held at the athletic fields behind Oasis World Outreach Church at 35636 State Road 54 W in Zephyrhills.

Player evaluations and cheerleader orientation will be Aug. 23-30 at the church.

Preregistration is $75 if received by Aug. 16. After that, registration is $90. The final registration deadline is Aug. 30. Registration forms may be picked up at the church office Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call the R.O.C.K. MORE FLAG FOOTBALL: Pasco County Parks and Recreation is hosting Youth Flag Football for kids ages 7-12 at the Holiday Recreation Complex. Registration deadline is Aug. 27, with evaluation beginning Aug. 30 at 9 a.m. Games will be Thursday nights from 5:45-8:45 p.m. starting Sept. 4. Cost is $35 per player. AND MORE FLAG FOOTBALL: Registration is open for flag football, cheerleading and basketball leagues through i9sports. Kids ages 4-15 are welcome. There are no tryouts, and everyone plays. Visit www.i9sports.com or call Jimmy Barbarise at (813) 532-1507.

SWIMMING: The Land O'Lakes Lightning Swim team is looking for swimmers 5 and older. The team meets at the Land O'Lakes Recreation Complex Pool at 3032 Collier Parkway and practices Monday through Friday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. There are meets every Tuesday night and on some weekends.
