Pasco Horseman's Association show features gaited horses

The Southeastern All Gaited Horse Association will have a show at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Pasco Horseman's Association, 13215 Fivay Road in Hudson.

RUNNING: The second annual Long Run at the Ranch 5K race will be held at 8:30 Saturday at John Long Middle School on Mansfield Boulevard in the Meadow Pointe subdivision. The 5K cost is $20 for adults and $15 for students. There will be a mile run after the 5K and the cost for that is $10. There will be giveaways, food and music, and trophies for overall and age-group winners. All proceeds will go to Wiregrass Ranch High and Dr. John Long Middle athletics.

MORE RUNNING: The seventh annual Chasco Main Street Mile will be at noon March 21, starting at the Schwettman Education Center on Grand Boulevard in New Port Richey.

Participants must register by Feb. 27. The cost is $12 for 17 and younger, $17 for adults and $20 on race day. Each participant will receive a medal. Checks can be made to Gulf High School Athletic Booster Club and mailed to 5636 Alto Ave., Port Richey, FL 34668.

GOLF: Deer Park Elementary will host its inaugural golf tournament at Crescent Oaks Country Club in Tarpon Springs on March 8. The tournament will have a shotgun start at 1 p.m. with registration beginning at noon. The cost is $90 per player and all proceeds will assist with the purchase of technology items such as computers and smart boards.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS: Hernando County Special Olympics hosts bocce ball at Deltona Woods Park in Spring Hill. Practices will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays.

The group is also holding track and field at Springstead High, which started Jan. 10 and will be from 1 to 4 p.m. New coordinator Sine (pronounced Sheena) Murphy is looking for coaches and volunteers to help, or she will have to fold the sport until next season.

BASKETBALL/VOLLEYBALL: Faith Presbyterian Church in Brooksville will host a three-on-three men's league starting Sunday. Teams will play at the church gym at 200 Mount Fair Ave.

The church will also start a volleyball league for those in high school and older on Feb. 9, with games also played in the gym.

SOFTBALL: Pasco Parks and Recreation is hosting the 2009 Adult Softball League at Holiday Recreation Complex at 2830 Gulf Trace Blvd. in Holiday and Veterans Memorial Park at 14333 Hicks Road in Hudson.

The cost is $375 per team and the deadline is Feb. 4. There will be a men's, women's, church and coed divisions. The season will include 10 regular-season games and a postseason.
