Sickle Cell Association of Hillsborough County hosts charity golf tournament Oct. 22

Benefit golf tournament set for Rogers Park: The Sickle Cell Association of Hillsborough County holds its seventh charity golf tournament Oct. 22 at Rogers Park Golf Course.

The tournament format will be a four-man scramble with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Prizes will go to the top three finishers along with a closest to the pin, longest drive and closest drive to the center line contest.

BSAC swimmer excels: Kristen Martin, 17, recently swam to a first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle at the Florida State Catholic Championships.

Martin, a member of the Blue Wave Swim Team at Brandon Sports & Aquatic Center, clocked a time of 5 minutes, 21 seconds. She attends Tampa Catholic High School.
