Local BMX rider Tyler Heinrichs raced in the qualifiers for the Florida State Championships last weekend finishing first overall in the 13-year-old-age class. The event was at Heinrichs' home track at Lake Park in Lutz and attracted more than 700 racers from around the state. Winning all of his qualifiers and the main event in Round 7, Heinrichs showed why he is off to Australia this summer to compete for team USA at the World BMX Championships.
"It's just awesome to be able to race with this level of competition and have success," Heinrichs said.
