Published May 13, 2015

The Hernando Women's 500 Club had its most recent tournament on April 19 at Strike City Bowling Center in Spring Hill.

The tournament was a doubles handicap format with 27 entries.

The duo of Pamela Richter and Eileen Jaeger topped the competition with a pin total of 1,414. Richter tossed a 746 handicap series (539 scratch), while Jaeger finished with a 668 handicap (554 scratch) for three games. The pair won $51.84 each for the victory, which was nearly 100 pins more than the two second-place teams.

Beth Kinkead and Deborah Coomer (1,328) and Trudy Kelly and Virginia Strittmatter (1,328) tied for second with each individual going home with $39.96. Strittmatter, who bowled a 225 game in her first effort, tied for best individual scratch game for the entire tournament. Laura Janicki also had a 225, but her team finished 27th.

The top six teams finished in the money. Rounding out that list were the tandems of Sharon Hicks and Val Biegel ($32.40 each), Gym Janelle and Joyce Crosby ($28.08) and Linda Bias and Nicole Mullen ($23.76).

Numerous raffles were held during the tournament. Richards won the gift basket, Fitz won the mystery money, and Eileen Jaeger took home the money tree.

The club's next tournament will be Oct. 11 at Strike City. That event will be a 9-pin no-tap handicap tournament.
