CHICAGO — Jake Arrieta pitched eight scoreless innings and the Cubs hit three home runs. Arrieta, the reigning NL Cy Young winner, struck out eight and allowed five hits in his home debut. He has not allowed a run in his past 48⅔ innings at Wrigley Field. The Cubs have won nine of 11 for their best start since they went 10-1 in 1969.

    FORT MYERS — One inning into Bishop McLaughlin's Class 3A state semifinal against Fort Myers Canterbury, things could not have gone much better for the Hurricanes. They grabbed a quick one-run lead and Canterbury ace Sam Keating was forced out of the game with a nagging neck injury.
