Foles, Philly D send Giants to loss No. 5
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — A backup quarterback and a defense that entered the day last in the NFL kept the Giants winless.
Nick Foles led four scoring drives after Michael Vick left late in the first half with a hamstring injury. And Eli Manning threw three interceptions in the fourth quarter.
"We started doing it as a defense," said cornerback Brandon Boykin, whose interception set up Philadelphia's final score. "Doing things we weren't doing before, getting the turnovers, making plays."
The Giants are 0-5 for the first time since 1987, when replacement players went 0-3, and the first time in a nonstrike season since 1979.
"They're very frustrated, very down," coach Tom Coughlin said. "They've worked very hard during the week, built themselves up to a good approach and then the frustration of not getting the win. They're standing up. They're supporting each other. That's the way it has to be … to continue on."
