DELAND — Stetson kicked off its first football game after a 57-year hiatus Saturday, but lightning suspended play in the second quarter, so the Hatters and Warner will resume play at 3 p.m. today.
Rob Coggin, a receiver from East Lake High, caught a 7-yard pass from Ryan Tentler for Stetson's first touchdown since 1956 and a 10-3 lead. But with 12:35 left in the second quarter game officials pulled the teams off the field because of lightning. After an hour delay, officials suspended play.
A sellout crowd of 6,479 saw the Hatters fall behind, but James LaGamma hit a 34-yard field goal to tie it at 3.
